SUMMITS REACTION TO RACHELLE LEAVING

We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.
* Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.
* If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.
* It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.
* Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.
* Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.
The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project - which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment - makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

SAN DIEGO — Lucky Twilighters who made the trek to Comic-Con last week were able to hoot and holler as two never-before-seen clips were unveiled — one featuring Taylor Lautner taking off his shirt, and another featuring Robert Pattinson's porcelain-white six-pack. One might think that all this "New Moon" flesh is what gave the film its PG-13 rating.
But according to the newest "Twilight" hunk, there's one more top-secret scene sure to raise some eyebrows.

Speaking of graphic novels, guess what’s in the works? “Twilight” – Stephenie Meyer’s YA vampire-romance novel-cum-movie – has a graphic novel version coming out from Yen Press. The publication date has not been determined, but Meyer is engaged in the project and Korean artist Young Kim will be creating the art of Twilight, Edward, and Bella.

Audio interview with Xavier Samuel (Eclipse), cast & crew of “Newcastle”

A couple of weeks ago I reported on the casting of Australian actor Xavier Samuel in the forthcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Then last week I was happy to pass on the news that his new film The Loved Ones would be having its International Premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September. I cover that event every year and will be at the screening. Eclipse will be shooting in Vancouver at the same time but, hopefully, the filmmakers will let Xavier attend.

Borders Expands Teen Section

Borders Group is rolling out a new teen section to take advantage of the relative strength of that category. “It’s a natural extension of what we’ve been doing,” said Kathryn Popoff, v-p of merchandising/trade books at Borders about the creation of Borders Ink. The retailer has done well in attracting teens with its large assortment of graphic novels and manga titles and now Popoff wants the teen section to move beyond books. Graphic novels and manga titles will be displayed immediately adjacent to the dedicated teen boutique, which is also next to genre fiction. Popoff said Borders has been seeing more crossover of adults interested in teen novels (such as the Twilight series), while some teens have shown an increased interest in categories such as romance.

Comic-Con Exclusive: Bon Iver, Thom Yorke confirmed for 'New Moon'

Director Chris Weitz has confirmed to HitFix.com that Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Bon Iver will be contributing all-new tracks to the film "Twilight Saga: New Moon."
"I selfishly want to put songs in by artists I love. And some the cast and crew also happen to love," says Weitz. "I think [Bon Iver] is fantastic. He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard."
Weitz mentioned that he will be listening to Yorke's new track tomorrow (July 24) and "unless it's sounds of him belching, I think I'll put it in."
The comments came during the "Twilight" sequel cast and crew interviews at Comic-Con in San Diego, the multi-day fest at the Convention Center.
British rock group Band Of Skulls -- who have lately been opening for Spinnerette -- will also be included and Weitz still is "hoping to get Kings Of Leon."
As previously reported, Alexandre Desplat will be scoring the film, the sounds of which Weitz describes as "lush. That's how I wanted the cinematography to be."

It looks like they're pictures from New Moon as well. The package says their names in red on the very top left corner and at the bottom it says "The Twilight Saga New Moon Heart's Desire Creme filled milk chocolate heart". The candy itself has Bella's name on the top, the Cullen crest in the middle, and the Skybar name on the bottom. They're quite tasty as well!careful not to eat the candy with paper and everything. Thom Yorke is planning to record a song for the new 'Twilight' movie, director Chris Weitz revealed.
During an interview, Weitz confirmed the Radiohead frontman has expressed an interest in contributing to the soundtrack of 'New Moon', and Kings Of Leon may also get involved.

When Rotten Tomatoes visited the Vancouver set of The Twilight Saga: New Moon in May with an exclusive group of online outlets, director Chris Weitz was wrapping up key scenes before production crossed the Atlantic to film for five days in Montepulciano, Italy. There, the medieval hillside town would stand in for the city of Volterra, home of the ancient Volturi vampires in Stephenie Meyer's novel, as filming concluded with the book's final set piece.
During our visit, finicky weather had forced the shoot to jump between soundstages to film two separate scenes from New Moon: in the first, Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson), and Alice (Ashley Greene) met the Volturi leader Aro (Michael Sheen) in the crisply decorated underground headquarters of the Volturi -- with dire results. Later, on a separate stage, we watched as Pattinson's Edward, appearing as a hallucination in Bella's mind on a darkened street, was filmed against green screens with an enormous tracking camera. That Weitz and crew moved from the first scene to the second in the span of a day demonstrated the speed -- and, seemingly, the smart planning -- with which New Moon was being filmed. “Sorority Row” sister (and “Hills” star) Audrina Patridge joined Twitter today, and in order to gain enough followers (apparently 12,000 plus as of today wasn’t enough for the ambitious brunette!) she offered to Tweet to the world who she’s currently dating if she makes it to 20,000 followers. Maybe if she throws in a piece of “Twilight” memorabilia — ala Peter Facinelli — she’d reach that goal faster.
Elsewhere in Twitter land, the aforementioned “Twilight” vampire (pictured) went on an excursion in a forest and bumped into some wildlife and a “Harry Potter” actor tried to avoid being electrocuted while Tweeting in a bath.

Fandango says 'Half-Blood Prince' may take bite out of 'Twilight'

This is a follow-up article to "Do audiences still care about Harry Potter?" Over the next few days, as new figures and reviews come in, we will be reporting on various answers to this question.
Fandango, the internet movie ticket sales website, is beginning to answer the question just hours before the film releases at midnight Tuesday in the United States. It says that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, may eclipse Twilight starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in advance sale tickets. Prince is based on the bestselling wizard series of books by J. K. Rowling; Twilight is based on Stephenie Meyers' widely popular vampire series.
Last fall, Twilight became Fandango's third highest selling movie in terms of pre-sale tickets (behind Star Wars - Episode III and The Dark Knight), and now Half-Blood Prince is closing in on Twilight's numbers. Prince has sold out at more than 1000 theaters nationwide.
Fandango reports that 96% of its daily sales right now are for the sixth Harry Potter film.
Audiences speak in many ways--on blogs, reviews, through fan websites, and other venues. However, box office sales often carry the loudest voice.
We'll stay tuned looking for various answers to the question of audiences still caring, or not, about Harry Potter as the film opens this week.

Residents of Forks, Washington State, are still stunned by what a piece of assiduous Googling from Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has unleashed on their town. Looking for the US's rainiest location in which to set her vampire series, she lighted upon the small town, population 3,221.
Fans of the books and film, based around Bella Swan and her dreamy vampire love interest Edward Cullen, began pouring into Forks. Today hundreds visit the town daily; its visitor count for June was more than 8,000 - around the number who used to come in a year. Restaurants have Twilight-themed menus with dishes such as Bellasagne, shops sell Twilight items, and tours cover the books' locations.

Wondering what that offbeat, electronic music is that your teen is playing on her MySpace page? It could be Blue Foundation, the indie group made famous by “Eyes on Fire,” featured on the Twilight soundtrack.
A recent article featured Blue Foundation and their recently revamped song, "Watch You Sleeping." Intrigued as to the roots of the group and the relationship of the lyrics to the movie, I contacted producer/musician Tobias Wilner (a.k.a. Bichi), creator of Blue Foundation for his thoughts.
Blue Foundation is a project Tobias originally started up with his brother. With the help of friends Kirstine Stubbe Teglbjaerg (vocalist for "Eyes on Fire") and Tatsuki Oshima for the first album, Tobias has found inspiration in enlisting assistance from various favorite musicians in his additional two records. The underground song, “Eyes on Fire,” was an unlikely overnight success and has, to date, garnered nearly nine million hits on their MySpace page.

New Moon's vampire 'Marcus' reveals sequel details

Over his career, Christopher Heyerdahl has played a Wraith, a demon, Bigfoot and now the centuries-old vampire Marcus, in the cast of the upcoming sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
It's perhaps one of the highest-profile roles for the versatile Canadian actor, who is known to fans of Syfy's Sanctuary, Stargate Atlantis and dozens of films and TV shows.
"Well, it's a little independent film I'm helping out with," the good-natured Heyerdahl said with a chuckle and tongue firmly in cheek. "This guy, poor old Marcus, is a 3,000-odd-years-old vampire who has spent at least the last 2,000 of it with a broken heart. Really, one of the main reasons to play that character and have anything to do with that series is my niece, who is absolutely obsessed with this series of books. To see how it has had such an effect on the teenage female community throughout the world is amazing."
Word of Heyerdahl's casting in the second of four contemplated films based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling books caught the attention of his friends. "I have friends of friends who send me e-mails and call me from all over the world," he said. "Every one of these young women feel that this story is about them. It's absolutely remarkable to be a part of something so widespread. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Heyerdahl's character is a member of the Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires based in Volterra, Italy, whose members also include Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning.
"He's one of the oldest vampires on the planet, and who doesn't want to play a 3,000-year-old vampire?" Heyerdahl said. "The cast that I get to work with, like Michael Sheen. ... We had so much fun goofing off together. It was an absolute hoot. Director Chris Weitz's version for this piece is like a Renaissance painting. The images were absolutely beautiful, and the character is such a tragic old fellow." (Possible spoilers ahead!)

Rumor Control: Kristen Stewart Pregnant

So the latest that is making our inbox churn is people wanting to know if Kristen Stewart is pregnant with Robert Pattinson’s love child. We were pretty much ignoring this latest tabloid driven story which jumped from the ridiculous to the utterly absurd in the last 24 hours until it took over our inbox.
Now we don’t have a pipeline into Kristen’s private life, but here’s the facts, such as they are, and you can decide for yourself:
The original source is an Australian gossip magazine whose headlines aside from the Kristen story were: Jen [Aniston] Tears Over Brad, Britney Spears Getting Married, and Michael Jackson’s Death, Was It Murder. So, you judge the credibility. The inside story goes on to state that Kristen sent a friend out for a pregnancy test because she was afraid to go to the drug store and be spotted getting one. The said friend then went and blabbed to someone who told the Australia-based magazine.
Now let’s think about this a second. Kristen has pretty much grown up in the business and realizes how rumors start, and knows that media eyes are on her. She’d risk sending “a friend” to get the test, especially one who can’t keep his/her mouth shut? Two words: mail order!
Now it gets better. We thought we had seen just about everything on this latest rumor and then it jumped the proverbial shark. Another gossip website states that Kristen responded to the rumor via her Twitter, yet they don’t cite what Twitter account that was, yet they quote it. Now putting aside the fact that Kristen doesn’t have a Twitter, let’s think about this. In a series of Tweets Kristen supposedly says that her publicist could have made up the rumor. In our opinion, when you have a career as big and hot right now as Kristen Stewart’s, no publicist (if they value their job and reputation) starts a pregnancy rumor. It’s not like Kristen isn’t getting a ton of PR via Runaways and New Moon. She would need a pregnancy rumor to attract additional attention because why exactly?
Next, Ted Casablanca, the one of the kings of Hollywood gossip is calling people out and saying BS. Now, when your rumor is at the point when a guy who makes his livelihood trading in rumor is pretty much going, “yeah right” instead of playing along (he also called BS on the “cab attacks Rob” and with logical back up)…you decide.
So in the end, for all we know Rob is sleeping with a fuzzy blue bear named Fred and Kristen curls up around a much loved and mangled Cabbage Patch doll. Hmm…maybe the bear and the Cabbage Patch Doll are getting it on?
